Hire conditions
Updated 23 August 2026
These conditions apply to bicycle hire arranged through this website. What you read here is the general rule; the written quote you receive by email governs the figures of your own booking, because it carries your dates, your bikes and a transport cost worked out for your address.
1. Who provides the service
The service is provided by SEO S.R.L., Via Roma 163, 73021 Calimera (LE), Italy, VAT 05151910758, REA LE - 345763, share capital €10,000.
2. Minimum length
Hire on this service starts at seven days. That is not an arbitrary commercial rule: below it the cost of moving the bikes exceeds the value of the hire, and the cheaper answer for the customer is to collect at one of the free points. If you need a bike for fewer days, write anyway and we will point you to the alternative, which is usually collection at Lecce, San Foca or Calimera.
3. Rates
The rates published on this site are €40 a day from 4 to 7 days and €35 a day from 8 days, for bikes without a motor. One rate applies to the whole booking; it is not tiered day by day.
Pedal-assisted bikes carry a daily supplement, stated in the quote. Optional extras fall into two categories that are worth not confusing: some are charged once for the whole hire, others for every day. Which is which is set out in the quote.
All amounts are in euro and include any applicable VAT.
4. What comes with the bike
Every bicycle is handed over with a lock, a helmet, a pump, a puncture kit with a spare tube, sealant spray, front and rear lights, a frame bag and a phone mount. These are not extras and they are not deducted if you would rather not have them.
5. Collection, delivery and return
Collection and return are free at the three points in Lecce, San Foca and Calimera, at a time we agree. We are not a shop with opening hours: the appointment is arranged, including outside business hours.
Anywhere else in the region we deliver with our own vehicle, for a charge. The cost is determined by three things: the number of bikes, how many days you keep them, and the distance between the address and our base. As an order of magnitude it runs from €20 to €250 each way, where €250 corresponds to the furthest destinations in the region. Each way means delivery and collection are two separate journeys and they add up. The exact amount is given before you confirm, and nothing is charged that you have not read first.
The place and time of return are fixed when you book. A delay that has not been agreed may be charged as additional days at the applicable rate.
6. Booking, documents, deposit
A booking is confirmed when you reply in writing accepting the quote. At collection we need a copy of a valid identity document.
We take no deposit, no security sum and no card hold. On long hires we may ask for an advance payment by bank transfer, which secures the booking and is not a guarantee against damage.
7. Using the bicycle
The bicycle is to be used in accordance with Italian road traffic law. It may not be sub-let, handed to people other than those named in the booking, used in competition, or taken outside the region without agreeing it beforehand.
The hirer undertakes to use the lock whenever the bicycle is left unattended, and not to leave it in the street overnight.
8. Faults, damage, theft
Ordinary wear is ours to carry: these are hire bikes, they wear out, and that is expected. If something breaks, call us before you act — the fix is often simpler than it looks, and we would rather it did not cost you a workshop visit.
Damage beyond ordinary use, loss and theft are the hirer's responsibility. Theft must be reported to the police and a copy of the report given to us. The amount charged and any limits are set out in the written booking confirmation: if you cannot find them there, ask before you set off.
9. Cancellation
If you have to cancel, tell us as early as you can: until then the bicycle is held for you and unavailable to anyone else. The applicable cancellation terms, including what happens to an advance payment already made, are set out in the written confirmation.
The right of withdrawal for distance contracts under Italian consumer law does not apply to hire services provided on a specified date, pursuant to Article 59 of Legislative Decree 206/2005.
10. Liability
We hand over bicycles that have been checked and are in working order. Riding them remains the rider's responsibility: we are not liable for accidents, injury or penalties arising from use of the bike. A helmet comes with every hire and we recommend wearing it, including where the law does not require it.
No payment is taken on this website, there is no live availability calendar, and no booking completes automatically: every enquiry goes through a written reply from a person.
11. Governing law
Italian law governs this relationship. In disputes with a consumer, the court of the consumer's place of residence or domicile has jurisdiction where that place is in Italy.
